This is how people refer to the bachelor rooms. Yeah yeah yeah. You got it right. It hurts and possibly it is right at times as well.
The folks who live with me I guess are all neat and tidy when in their respective homes but a look into this room and you could puke to death. Clothes, books, bags...oh...everywhere scattered around the room in such a way that I could call 911 and he would see this room and believe that we have been ransacked. Every week me and my other roommate put everything in place and vacuum clean it and make it appear orderly...and the dream lasts for 2 days. The third day it looks the same again. How frustrating?
One of my roommate when he left India was told by his parents to lighten up the place by his presence. Well, he got the figure of speech wrong and took it quite literally. Any room he enters and leaves has the light turned on. Now with a salary which is only being rivaled by the Janitor at my clients place, we cant afford to pay huge electricity bills. Another one has a fancy for other guys dresses. He sees a nice shirt of mine or other fellas and the next day he is wearing them. It is even more convenient that we works for a different client. Depending on the feedback (which is more number of looks from the female staff) the shirt would be missing from the rack for the longer span of time and the buyer can forget having bought it in first place.
Another one is a worse bathroom singer. He screeches and drags and brays worse than donkeys and 3 stanzas later you pray to be admitted in an asylum. Worse are his claims. When reported that he could do away with singing he bragged that one girl in his college fell head over heels in love with him just for his singing(?) abilities! Now I always knew that Love was blind....turns out that it is deaf as well :-)
But then all of us are not perfect beings. Each of us have a trait or 2 which irritates someone out there. Even I have not cared about my health as much as my roommate did and Thanks is a very small word in exchange for that. Every person must once in his/her life live in a dormitory or a bachelor house. Our parents have no other choice but to give in to our tantrums or know the way we are and so it is always nice and cozy at home. But when you live in with a stranger or a friend....you get to learn a few lessons. You will get to learn the meaning of patience, giving space, letting things go, enjoying companionship, sharing joy and grief....and much more.
Trust me, however rich you maybe, but life sucks without companionship or when there is no one around to talk. As for the way the room looks....well.....Boys will be boys :-)

i am reminded of a Wodehouse classic wherein, the protoganist's lover is impressed by his singing abilities.
Lolz...
Actually...gals are equally messy too...or atleast this girl is!!!
Phew man..Everytime I consider cleaning my room...all it takes is a look around to change my mind..Too confusing to decide..where to start from!
So maybe that's why..u guys are messy too!
Just when i was beginning to think 'where's the next post'...you're abck
iru padichittu varen :D
haahaha
really funny one there...i hope ur room mates dont frequent your blog else you stand the risk of being strangled my friend :D
But yeah, with sharing your house comes all kinds of trouble. May be that's why, when I am in India, I always live alone....works out to be expensive when it's a city like B'lore but what the heck...
And as far as room's cleanliness goes...haahah....girls are no different. place a chair in my room and i bet in a week it would have disappeared beneath a heap of clothes. and i love it when my mom goes 'Dont you blow dry your hair!!!...the place looks like a darn barber shop' Nashty! :))
P.S: loved the figure of speech thing
BTW, i can see that you've laughed just as much writing this post...looks like you've enjoyed writing it up...dare I say it's your funniest in a long time?
nice one mate.. reminds me film street house.. :D
hahaha..gud one!! :)
So the article published in de paper is TRUE... But to tell u a fact at times even girls can manage to maintain the room as nasty as you said... So this is not gender oriented it is w.r.t lazy genes..he...he...
Now I always knew that Love was blind....turns out that it is deaf as well :-)....LOL
agreed with wat u said about living in a dorm..it sure does chage u n helps build a character..
n about cleanliness..hmmmm...u should c my room..vazhkai ya verruthuduva...hehe...but i do clean it..once in a blue moon..:)..
Trust me, however rich you maybe, but life sucks without companionship or when there is no one around to talk. As for the way the room looks....well.....Boys will be boys :-)
absolutely true. And ofcourse girls are girls ;) And we are equally bad like you guys, but better than you ;)
Haha.. Good one.. But I know some ppl who are extremely finicky about cleanliness(not gender specific).
But you are absolutely right. It is fun to live with friends. The dinner times are exceptionally the best at my place. :-)
Being too picky picky can be tuff, but literally free of all is just cute.
Lol ! That was one hilarious post :)
"Boys will be Boys"
Yeah rite...But then "Messy girls will remain messy". You gotta check out a few of my hosteller-frnds' room..GOD ! You can't set ur foot into their rooms. Got to wade your way through clothes :|
:) seri blue shirt yarthu? :)
never had the opportunity to live at hostel! but thnks! i am a clean freak and will be fuming al the time , when things r not clean.
another thing i hate is wet bathroom! i want it dry - i know many leave it stagnated with water!
cant stand it
I live in a room with other students too...can understand how you feel..
indha maathiri illana thaan thaan engayo thappu nadakuthunu artham :-)
Bhaiya!!, Nice post :)
For about a decade I have been living away from home now... I have lived in a dormitory, hostel, house with friends and strangers... I understand what you are saying :)
// the shirt would be missing from the rack for the longer span of time and the buyer can forget having bought it in first place.
//
This reminds me of an incident in hostel. Sharing shirts is inevitable... so one of my friend used to take my shirts... so after many days I wore that shirt to college... one of my friend comes and asks me "Hey ithu Dilip shirt, nee yenda potutu iruka?" and the worst is he didnt believe me when I told him its my shirt... Then I thot no point talking to that character so freeya vittuten, avan mela iruntha kovamlam yen friend mela kuthi theerthuten :)
Interesting post... hehe yea boys will be boys..
I've known a good number of exceptions, so no excuse, boy!:-)
hee hee...cool post...angeyum bathroom singer kodumaiya....???same blood... :))
